Does Efficiency Exist

Entry #4- Efficiency

Through school, work, and simply observing the world around me, I’ve noticed what feels like a massive lack of efficiency and organization.

I’ve always been someone who thrives on consistency. Stable routines and systems make sense to me. So whenever something changes, my first question is always: Will this actually work better?

Sometimes the answer is yes.

Progress is real. But other times it feels as though we change things simply for the sake of change. New laws, new

procedures, new systems-yet many seem to create as many problems as they solve.

It makes me wonder: when something isn’t working, should we always start from scratch? Or should we first ask, What used to work, and how can we improve upon that instead?

Efficiency isn’t about resisting change. It’s about making changes that genuinely improve people’s lives rather than adding unnecessary complexity. Every inefficient system, no matter how small, affects someone. Those small inconveniences eventually become part of our daily lives.

Maybe progress isn’t measured by how often we reinvent the system, but by how well we refine what already works.
